Former West Elk Patriot Megan McClendon made her college debut for the University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos as they rolled past MIAA Conference foe Pittsburgh State Saturday afternoon.  Megan quickly splashed a 3 point basket in her first outing as a Broncho.  “You really have to get your shot off quickly (in college).”, the true freshman said. “You don’t have time to think about it.”  McClendon went 1 for 1 and finished with 3 points as UCO rolled past Pittsburgh State 80-50.

Megan’s sister, Macy McClendon, was not available for play in the game due to quarantine restrictions.  “ I am really excited for Megan.  It’s good to be playing together again.  It feels like old times (at West Elk).”

Both McClendon’s were name All-Area MVP and receieved All-State honors as part of the West Elk team that made back-to-back appearances in the State Champtionship Tournament under Head Basketball Coach Dave Miller.

UCO plays Washburn University @ Topeka on Thursday, December 3rd at 6:00 PM and Emporia State @ Emporia on December 7th at 1:30 PM.  Both games are open to the public.
