Where are they now?

Greg Harrod graduated from West Elk High School in 1988. He received a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University in May, 1993. Later that month, he married and moved to Peoria, Illinois to work for Caterpillar, Inc. In 1998, Greg and his wife, Angie, moved to Brisbane, Australia to develop mining software for Caterpillar.

In May of 2000, he took a job with Johnson Controls, and relocated to Wichita, Kansas. He currently serves as the Engineering Manager for the Residential Systems and Controls group. Greg, Angie, and their three sons live in northwest Wichita, and enjoy visiting family in Howard often. Greg's parents, Mary and Jerry Harrod, and his brother Gary and wife, Lisa, live in Howard. His nieces, Kayla, senior, and Ashley, eighth grade, are students at West Elk.

 

Starting Track Season

Track season starts today, March 9, 2010. It looks like the track team will be running in cold, wet weather for their first practice. Their first meet will be at Eureka on April 8th. Hope to see you there.

 
Junior High does well at Iola

 The junior high scholars bowl brought home huge gold and bronze medals from their first outing at Iola Saturday.   Team “A” led by Aaron Miller went undefeated and took first place and Team “B” led by Taylor Coble took third.

Lady Patriot Basketball Comes To a Close

The Lady Patriots basketball season has come to an end. They ended their season with a loss of 51 to 20 against Jay Hawk Lynn. Player Shaylynn McCarty stated, “It’s unfortunate that we didn’t make it to state, but I know that we will be more prepared next season and hopefully we can take the gold.”

 
Congratulations to the JH Scholar’s Bowl
Both “A” and “B” Junior High Scholar’s bowl teams placed first at Sedan on March 1.

West Elk vs. Sedan

The West Elk vs. Sedan home high school boy’s basketball game, February 23 resulted in a victory 68 to 54. Most of the points were scored by Ty Roebuck at 26 points and Bradley Linder following with 19.

 
Lady Patriots Vs. Caldwell

The varsity lady patriots’ basketball team came up a little short with a score of 45-19 at their Friday night game against Caldwell. Their next game will be held on Thurs Feb 25 at Cedar Vale.
